Thirteen presumed cultists, who purportedly killed two men previously dumping their bodies in a waterway, were on Thursday in Lagos remanded in Ikoyi Prisons.
An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates' Court which dismissed their supplication, said they ought to be kept in a correctional facility pending counsel from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The charged are: Ismail Bello, 26; Shola Jaiyeola, 28; Kabiru Wahab, 23; Akeem Adeyemo, 36; Monsuru Ojopagogon, 29; David Lasisi, 35 and Bayo Bakare, 30.
Others are Daniel Yosue, 30; Ademola Ayelabowo, 27; Joshua Udoh, 20; Daniel Adeyemi, 28; Saheed Mohammed, 25; and Wasiu Aborisade, 40.
NAN reports that the 13 blamed are confronting a six-tally charge verging on scheme, kill, participation of unlawful society, break of peace and causing intolerable mischief.
As per the prosecutor, Cpl. Iyobosa Onaiwu, the offenses were submitted on Sept. 27 at around 9.00 p.m. at Maidan Junction, Mile 12, Lagos.
Two of the charged — Mohammed and Adeyemi — supposedly executed one Tunde and Okesola Yusuf before dumping their bodies in the Maidan River in Mile 12, he said.
Onaiwu said the charged, accepted to be individuals from Eye Confraternity and Federal Boys religion, had been threatening people in general and confiscating them of their resources.
Among the perilous weapons found in their ownership were a folding blade, cutlasses and matchets.
"Olalekan Olatoye was cut on the stomach area, while the throat of Babatunde Rilwan was opening."
Onaiwu noticed that the offenses disregarded Sections 41, 42, 221 and 231 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
NAN additionally reports that the blamed might be condemned to life detainment on conviction.
The Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Ope-Agbe suspended the case to November 16.
