Eleven kick the bucket, 23 harmed in Kogi car accident


The Federal Road Safety Commission has affirmed the passing of 11 individuals in a shocking engine mishap on the Auchi-Okene expressway in Kogi.

The Sector Commander of the FRSC in Kogi, Mr. Olusegun Martins, told correspondents in Lokoja on Tuesday that the mishap happened at a sharp curve out and about on Monday evening.

He said that 23 other individuals managed differing degrees of damage in the mischance, including a sum of 34 individuals.

Martins said that six of the casualties kicked the bucket on the spot, while five others passed on in healing centers.

He said that two vehicles – a trailer stacked with dairy animals, foodstuffs and travelers and a Toyota Corolla auto – were associated with the mishap.

The segment officer gave the enrollment number of the trailer as Katsina XF 914 KTN, while the number plate of the Toyota auto was Abuja BWR 756 BJ.

The two vehicles were originating from Lokoja.

He said that all the dead casualties and the harmed were from the trailer originating from Abuja, while the driver of the auto and its different tenants got away unhurt.

Martins said the mischance happened when the trailer hit the auto from behind before losing control and colliding with an adjacent bramble.

The segment officer faulted the mischance for speeding, yet included that full examination would be completed at the appointed time.

He said that the carcasses of the casualties were taken to the funeral home at the General Hospital, Okene, while the harmed were taken to TAO Hospital, God's Mercy Hospital in Okene and the Federal Medical Center in Lokoja.
