Nigeria: Inspector Shoots Okadaman, 3 Others Over N50, Arrested

A Police Inspector in Ondo State has been captured for purportedly shooting three agriculturists on business cruiser, prominently called Okada, over N50 pay off.

The episode occurred at an unlawful detour along Amusigbo, on Ajowa-ldoani Road in Ose board region of the state.

Police picture producer, Femi Joseph, affirmed that the Police Inspector will experience organized room trial over the assertion, despite the fact that Joseph guaranteed that the Inspector shot at the casualties after they prepared a few adolescents to assault the Police group at a stop-and-pursuit point.

As per Joseph, the casualties were halted by the policemen, yet denied constraining one of the policemen to hit one of the casualties with his cudgel just for them to go into the town to activate young people, who assaulted the policemen.

He charged that while the assailants attempted to wrestle the administration weapon from the monitor, it detonated and injured the casualties.

Notwithstanding, an observer guaranteed the three agriculturists were from Oka in Akoko South-West Local Government Area of the state and were shot by the Police Inspector on their approach to cultivate, when the business cruiser administrator passing on them declined to give the policemen Egunje (fix) that they requested.

As indicated by the onlooker, the okadaman, on getting to the checkpoint, gave the N50 the officers were gathering, yet was advised to pay N300 since he was conveying three travelers, which he declined.

After much contention and deferral, the rider chose to hurry off since the policemen were not prepared to take what he was putting forth.

The Inspector, who apparently drove the group was educated of the improvement and, in inconvenience, he purportedly started shooting at the rider and his travelers, who were presently around 100 meters far from the checkpoint.

Onlooker account

As per the onlooker, "the Inspector and different officers promptly fled the scene, leaving the casualties in their pool of blood. A few passers-by hurried them to the Federal Medical Center, FMC, Owo.

"Adolescents and indigenes of Oka apparently assembled and challenged to Idoani Police Station.

"The mediation of prominent pioneers in the town kept the station from being annihilated by the furious adolescents."

Policemen at the station were said to have fled, following reports that the adolescents were en route to vent their outrage on them and the station.

The Inspector was later captured and confined at Owo Police Station.
