Esther Akinsanya, was, yesterday, remanded in jail authority by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos over charged offer of contaminated Dangote Sugar.

Justice Ayotunde Faji requested her remand before dismissing till November 13, pending when she can culminate her safeguard application.

The 72-year-old businessperson was charged close by her organization by the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, over the affirmed wrongdoing.

Akinsanya and her organization is standing trial for intrigue, unlawful importation and re-stowing of unregistered sugar, appropriation and offering of sugar not invigorated with Vitamin A.

Gotten

The NAFDAC prosecutor, Mr. Umar Shamaki, claimed that the agent was gotten at her shop situated at 1, Tailor Road, Iddo, Lagos, on August 2, where she and her laborers were re-stowing some unfortified Brazilian sugar brands into Dangote Sugar sacks.

Offering of the unfortified granulated sugar was said to be in opposition to NAFDAC Act, segments 5(a), 1(1) of the Food and Drugs Act Cap l. F.33, Law of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, and culpable under Sections 17(1) and (2), 8(1) and (2), 17(1) and (2) and 6 (1) (an) and (b) of a similar Act.

The litigant, nonetheless, argued not liable and her advice, Mr. I. N. Fayehun, asked the court to give a short dismissal to empower him record appropriate safeguard application.
