Oyo State Commissioner of Police precludes shooting female specialists from securing IAR&T

Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Abiodun Odude, says his men were not in charge of shooting of two female individuals from staff of the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training (IAR&T), Ibadan.

The police boss talked on the reports that policemen drafted to subdue understudies' challenge at the Federal College of Agriculture (FCA), Apata, Ibadan, shot two specialists of the organization.

In his remarks, Prof. James Adediran, the Executive Director of IAR&T, demanded that two individuals from staff of the organization were shot by the policemen drafted to suppress the understudies challenge at the school.

"During the time spent shooting, two work force of IAR&T who have nothing to do neither with the understudies nor the school were shot with live slugs,'' he said.

Newsmen report that understudies of the College of Agriculture had on Monday morning arranged a challenge over the conclusion of their school.

Newsmen report that the dissenting understudies obstructed the doors to the IAR&T keeping vehicles and individuals from getting entrance into the organization which has similar premises with school.

"A lady was shot in the guts while a young woman, an understudy with us, was shot in the thigh.

"Two of them are lying fundamentally sick at the Emergency Department of UCH, Ibadan,'' Adediran said.

Likewise, Odude said that the understudies hindered the Ibadan-Abeokuta Road amid the dissent, assaulted vehicles and tossed stones at the police.

He said that four policemen were injured because of the stones tossed at them by the understudies.

" Police let go teargas to push the understudies to the outrageous and could capture a portion of the understudies that tossed the stones.

" There was no weapon shot,'' Odude demanded.
