Two herders have been captured by Ogun State Police Command for professedly hijacking and slaughtering another herder, Taye Amodu.

As per the police, the suspects – Hassan Amodu and Abubakar Abdullah – had supposedly grabbed Amodu on October 23, 2017, at the Obada Oko region of Abeokuta and carried off eight dairy animals.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said on accepting the data, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, coordinated the Officer-in-Charge of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, DSP Uba Adam, to pursue the suspects.

He stated, "At around 5.30pm of that day, their den was situated in the Imeko territory. The fort, which is in a thick timberland, was raged by FSARS agents and the two suspects were captured. Recuperated from them were one pump-activity firearm stacked with four live cartridges and two cutlasses.

"On cross examination, they admitted to have slaughtered the casualty since he battled with them while they were taking him away, including that the body was covered in a shallow grave inside the backwoods. They similarly admitted to have stolen his eight cows."

Oyeyemi said the suspects would be charged in court toward the finish of police examination.
