We are comfortable with anti-open grazing law in Benue State: Fulani herders

Michael Gusa, Benue State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice yesterday said that the new law did not disregard the nation's constitution.

Gusa made the elucidation on Tuesday in a meeting with newsmen in Makurdi, the state capital.

He said the individuals who are against the law were the Fulani herders and others not inhabitant in the state.

As indicated by him, such individuals were either oblivious of the arrangements of the law or purposely out to mature inconvenience.

The AG said in opposition to suggestions, the law forbidding open touching does not at all damage the arrangements of the Nigerian Constitution.

He likewise clarified that the law just limits the development of animals and not individuals, focusing on that the herders in Benue are OK with it.

The law precluding the open touching of animals isn't focused at any tribe. Huge numbers of the herders who need to stay in the state had conformed to the law.

"Since the execution of the law, no Fulani man living in the state has whined, aside from those in Abuja and different states. At the point when Zamfara State sanctioned the Sharia law, the individuals who couldn't live in similarity with it, cleared out the state," Gusa said.

He called attention to that the herders should live in peace with the ranchers or look for elective habitations, they can't limit their bovines from decimating crops.
